A Little About Me

Computers

I will tell you this, I use Macs. I used to use PCs, but then I switched (before those ads came out too). Also, in my poetry class the other day, in response to my comment, my teacher said, “But you’re a formal guy Dave. Right?” I thought that was really funny. I also like beer. I have been referred to as “a nice guy” and also “a complete asshole.” Depends on the person I guess.

Web

As to this website, it uses XHTML and CSS. The reason for this is two fold: One, I can keep all my content in XML files and use XSLT to generate these pages; Two, the pages will be viewable not just from computers, but also from PDA’s and cellphones. It also makes the site more accessible to the disabled. Standards compliance is crucial to mitigate the spread of the internet into all facets of our lives. It also allows more than just white honkey’s with 20/20 vision (corrected) to view these pages too.

Drinks

Done with that soapbox. From looking above, you can clearly see I like writing and photography. I also like driving. And skiing. And hanging out with my one friend. Someday I hope to have two. I also like to drink. Most of the time my aim in drinking is not to get drunk though. I actually enjoy good wine, beer and mixed drinks. My favorites are Fat Tire, good Merlot, Single Malt Scotch, Martinis (with good gin), and whatever else there is. I don’t smoke cigarettes, in fact, I hate them with a passion. Same reason as my music choice. See below. Glenmorangie is my single malt of choice.

Color & Music

My favorite color is green and I listen to just about every kind of music where the musician actually gives a damn about how their music sounds (which does not include such folks as Brittany Spears, the Backstreet Boys, and Metallica as of late). All these people care about is making money. I like such folks as, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Orbital, Bach, Moby, Tool, Led Zepplin, The Doors, Autechre, Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine, Medeski Martin & Wood, and so on.

School

My schooling is as follows: High School (completed!? Huh, oh I must have been asleep for that one), Purdue University: 5 long years. My major was Creative Writing with two minors in Philosophy and Art & Design (Photography). I graduated May of 2003.

Favorite Writers

I like such poets as Russell Edson, Charles Simic, James Tate, Gary Snyder, Robert Hass (early work) and Sylvia Plath. I like such writers as Tom Wolfe, Tom Robbins, Don Delilo, and Jonathan Carrol (as well as many many others). Maybe I will make a list of what is on my bookshelf like Megan had on her old site.

DVDs

My DVD rack currently contains: Metropolis, The Seventh Seal, Dr. Strangelove, Citizen Kane, A Clockwork Orange, Big Trouble, Eddie Izzard: Dress to Kill, Koyaanisqatsi, Blade Runner, Pi, Traffic, Requiem for a Dream, Ocean’s Eleven (new one), Ronin, Spaceballs, Get Shorty, Airplane, The Matrix, The Royal Tenenbaums, Blazing Saddles, What Dreams May Come, The Graduate, OfficeSpace, Young Frankenstein, Amelie, Fight Club, and L.A. Story. Feel free to borrow one if you like. Or watch it here, which ever. I don’t really care.

PS/2 Games

My Plasystation 2 game selection basically sucks, but it consists of such greats as Gran-Trusimo 3, Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, SSX, and Hitman 2.

Gamecube Games

I have two of the best games for the GC right now: Metroid Prime and F-Zero GX. One never needs more.

End

Whew. Thats it. You actually read all that? Jeeze, go do some homework or read a book or something. I mean really. I am not all that exciting…
